Family Togetherness

Kevin and I have been trying to find someway of getting our family together more often. It seems that every weekend the three older kids have some kind of party or activity. Also it seems that every single week night there is something going on as well. We have really been blessed to be able to be together on Sunday and Monday though. We have really enjoyed the past three family nights. Kevin and I decided to implement the ideas we heard in conference from a few different authorities about family night. We decided to have a different gospel topic each week. For instance last week the topic was "Scripture Study". We try to chose a new topic each Monday so that we can think about that topic through the week. We ask each child to come up with something to share, a personal story, scripture story, scripture or talk, and then ask them to be prepared to share it with everyone for family night. It has really been interested. It opens up the door of communication and discussion and brings the spirit into our home. Once a month go to an elderly brother in our ward for family night. He recently lost his wife and is pretty lonely at times. He's is an amazing man and we have really enjoyed being in his home. Last week we took our discussion family night over to his home. The spirit was strong and we were all taught by each other and by the spirit. It turned out to be a wonderful evening!
The other thing that Kevin and I decided to do to bring the family together more often was to audition for the Syracuse City production of "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". We had a little trouble talking Brenden into auditioning but after a little force (which we really hope wont backfire on us) he said that he would audition to. So yesterday morning our entire family went to the community center dress in our best and ready to sing sixteen bars of an upbeat Broadway tune.
Regan sang "I Love You a Bushel and a Peck". She wore her favorite dress (which is about five times too small but I knew she felt special in it so I decided to let her) and she sang with all her little heart, it was so cute!
Kyra sang "Music! Music! Music! by Stephan Weiss (Put Another Nickel in the Nickelodeon). She was quiet but sang really well and she even threw in a few actions to go with it!
Alli Balli sang "Castle on a Cloud". She really does have a strong and beautiful little voice. She did a great job as well.
Brenden sang "Look to the Rainbow". It was really hard to get him to sing for me when we were practicing at home. He just kept saying that he didn't like to sing in front of people it made him feel weird. So he went down stairs and practiced on his own. After a bit Kevin went down stairs to check on him and listened at his door. He was really surprised to hear such a beautiful, clear sound coming from Brenden's room. Finally Brenden allowed me to play the piano for him and give him some pointers. I was also really surprised at the sound coming from voice. I have not heard him sing for at least a year, because whenever we sang during family night or at church I could see his lips moving but I couldn't hear any sound. Well he did a great job on his audition as well. We just need to get him to loosen up a bit and smile.
Bridgette sang "Come to Your Senses". She did a really great job as well. She has a lot of emotion when she sings as well as a beautiful sound. I wish that I would have been able to sing like she does when I was her age.

Kevin sang "Lily's Eyes". He of course sounded great, and the directors loved him. I'm sure that they will love him even more when they see hims dance at the dance call backs on Saturday. I sang "If I Ruled the World". I didn't do a great job. I always let my nerves get the better of me and it effects my voice. The good news is I got called back for one of the Narrators. I'm excited about that although I'm pretty sure I wont get the part of Narrator as there are three other ladies who got called back too. I'll just be happy if the whole family gets cast so that we can be together. Kevin and Brenden also got called back for brothers. The girls all were called back as well for the children's chorus and Bridgette was put on the dance call back list. So we are all hopeful that we will get to be a part of this production together! Unfortunetley, Rorie Ann couldn't audition because you have to be at least six years old, but the kids are hopeful that the directors will give her a chance to shine during one of the songs that they have been drilling her on. It's pretty funny! Here is a little clip of that. FUNNY!

Kyra Elaine's Baptism

Kyra's baptism was in Feruary, and yes it's April but at least I'm writing now! It was a great day. Earlier in the week Kyra and I were getting ready to go to Jensen Park for a photo shoot with Aunt Krystal. Kyra was really excited because she would get to wear her new baptism dress and all the trimmings, her new white shoes, and of course her special necklace given to her from her Grandpa McEvoy. Kyra wears this necklace every year on her birthday to help her remember her sweet Grandmother Elaine McEvoy whom she was named after. Well when Kyra went to go get the necklace out of the box it was gone! She remembered that she had worn the necklace earlier that week to school on the day of her birthday. She had forgotten to put the necklace back in the box that night. I suggested to Kyra that she go and pray. A few minutes later she came and told me that she had prayed but she still couldn't find the necklace. I asked her if she asked Heavenly Father to help her know where to look. She said that she had not. Kyra and I went and prayed together, Kyra prayed and I listened. After the prayer we continued to look for the necklace. Kyra told me that she thought we should look down stairs so we went down there and began our search again. A few minutes later we found the necklace!
On Saturday when we arrived at the church Kyra started to cry and told me that she had a terrible headache. I told her to say a prayer in her heart and it would go away. After we met with the bishop and he told us what to do and where to go, Kyra told me that she was still experiencing a headache. I could tell that she was trying hard not to cry. Kyra asked Kevin if he would please give her a blessing before the meeting began. Our whole family found a small empty classroom and went inside to give Kyra a blessing. It was a really neat experience. The spirit was so strong and reaffirmed to me the power of the priesthood and also the truthfulness that our Heavenly Father loves us all. After the blessing Kyra's countenance changed and she looked very happy and peaceful. The baptism was wonderful. Our family had the musical number. I played an arrangement of I am a Child of God that I had written to go along with Kevin on the Cello and Bridgette, Allison, , Regan and Brenden sang. I had a lot of fun doing this with the family and I think it sounded pretty good.
After the baptism we went over to the white church for a luncheon with the Zaugg's. Ryan was also baptized that day. Lynette and I had decorated the tables with pictures of Kyra and Ryan and balloons. We both had video's on different tv's and Lynette made a really great cake. There were a lot of people there but we were well prepared and it turned out really nice

Happy Birthday Hike

We went on a Hike to Ensign Peak for Kari's Birthday and for Family Home Evening yesterday. It was a LOT of fun. Kim came with us as did Krystal and a few of her friends. Oh Yeah!?! Jade came too. Here are a couple of photos.

We did encounter a slight breeze that got more and more stiff the higher we hiked. (see the photo with us at the top... Bridgette is trying to hold her hair down) Kari talked to us about Virtue (A Return to Virtue by Elaine S. Dalton) and there is some symbolism in the yellow bandana she has on her head. (it is in the talk attached)
It was a great day!! And we love Karilee!!

Being a Slacker
You may have noticed that ALL the kids have posted something on the blog besides me (if not, i'm slightly offended...)This is because i am a MAJOR slacker!(:
I had a fantastic Chirstmas break and was NOT excited to go back to school. I was expecting that, since the term was almost over, the nect few weeks of the term would be EASY! That is not true. This last week was homework MANIA!! What with honors english, term projects and officer stuff, my week was packed! This sounds all gloom and doom...it really wasn't. I had lots of fun this week!
I have lots of stuff to look forward to this week
1)On tuesday AMERICAN IDOL STARTS!! WHOOO(:
2)Also on tuesday, we have a girls basketball game against legacy, or rivals. I have lots of friends that go there and i am VERY excited for the game!
3) My school is doing "seahawk idol" and i am participating in it! I will be singing tomorrow and i am REALLY nervous but excited too! I'm going to sing True colors by cindy Lauper but i'm doing the Glee version because i like it better!
Well, i hope you all have a FANTASTIC week!

bball, blogs and big kev
Hello all. the kids put in a few words, so I felt the need to do so as well. We are going to try and have them post something at least once a week. So consider yourselves warned!
Brenden and Allison start basket ball this coming week. They are very excited. I am trying to be as awesome as dad and coach them... I have some big shoes to fill... and a long way to go, still. I love you dad! Thanks for your great example.
Allison has created her own blog, so feel free to check it out and see what you think. It is http://www.allimaclife.blogspot.com/
She is one smart cookie, and keeps us smiling around here.
I just weighed in at 205.4 lbs today to finish off our biggest loser competition here at work. I got fourth place, but I am thrilled to have lost 17lbs and I am hoping to drop another 10 or so. So I am hoping to be a little bit less of a big kev in the future.

Alpacas and llamas are really cool. They are awesome and i really like them. To me they are the coolest thing ever! I even made up a song about llamas. It goes to the tune of "Oh, Christmas Tree". Here is how it goes. "Oh awkward llamas oh awkward llamas why are you so awkward. Oh awkward llamas oh awkward llamas why do you have pink bottoms? You are so small and so fuzzy. You are so white and sometimes pink. Oh awkward llamas oh awkward llamas why do you have pink bottoms!" Pretty coOl huh?!
For Christmas i got a lot of stuff! for one i got an awesome sour candy maker. So I can make candy for myself anytime.i also got a camera and an IPod. It was a fun Christmas and i loved it!!! (I also love alpacas and llamas)

One wednesday the youth had a New Years Eve party, it was alot of fun, that is untill i hurt my foot. New Years Eve i had a party with a few of my friends and that was alot of fun. New years day our family went to Brett and heathers house and hung out.Alli, Bridge , and I slept over and went home the next day.
We started comp. and Jr. Jazz practice and that is fun. I look forward to Church basketball. That is pretty much my mounth of December!! and currently i am wondering why allison is posting her song about akward llamas???? THE END
Rorie Ann

One of Rorie's favorite things to say is "Daddy your silly." We think she is pretty silly too. Rorie is growing up way to fast. She speaks pretty clearly most of the time but some time we really have to concentrate to figure out what she is saying. She had a lot of fun opening presents this year in fact was really sad when she was done opening them all and there wasn't any more to open. She also really enjoys having her picture taken as long as she can see the picture immediately afterwards.
Rorie loves Allison. This morning it was so fun to watch her wake up Allison. She was kissing her and giving her hugs and saying "Alli I love you." It's kind of hard to take as a mother but she really does prefer Alli over me most of the time!
Regan
This year for Christmas I got a tea set. I like it a lot. I also got a pug dog from Kyra and Kyra is nice! The next thing I got for Christmas was my clothes. They were cute. I got a dress it's white and black squares. My cousins and I went to an old barn to take pictures of what it looked like when Jesus was born. I was an Angel. Kyra and Rorie were Angels also. Brenden was Joseph and Bridgette and Alli were girl shepherds. Aunt Millie's baby was baby Jesus.
Kyra
This year for Christmas I got some books with different stories in them. One story is Little Women and Ann Of Green Gables. I am reading Ann of Green Gables now and I kinda like it! I also got a mini DVD player that I can bring in the car with me for long trips and I got a Fur Real Friend Dog. He barks and I like him. I got a dress too it has black and pick checks and a pink tie. My family and I went to Brother Nielsen's for family night (he lives alone now that his wife passed away) and we had a family night lesson and he made us some popcorn balls. It was really fun! The next week Regan and I were delivering Christmas wreaths and we went to take one to Brother Nielsen's house. He invited us in so I could use the bathroom and then he gave us popcorn balls again!! They were YUMMY!
